If I had a spare $500

With all the baking I have done in the last week this little baby would have made my life a bit easier. Or at the least it would have been another step closer to my Martha life.

I've never understood when I ask people what they are buying for their partner for Christmas and the reply is "Oh we've decided not to buy for each other this year because blah blah blah (I have usually tuned out at this point). Seriously! Go without a present? I think not. Not my style. And I love to give, I'll always scrimp and save to find a way to give those I love something they will love.
This year I was spoilt rotten (I didn't really want to type rotten but nothing else came to mind).
I was showered with Marc Jacobs love, which is lucky because one of my presents was an MJ umbrella, ella ella eh eh. I am so practical!!!
Sadie now has more toys than she really needs, actually make that more toys than I think she needs. And clothes HOLY MOLEY I think she has enough tops that I wouldn't need to wash for about two weeks and she would still have clean tees. She also received a doll which I have to be honest, scares me a little. I think it's called a Baby Alive and it wee's and poops but the scary thing is it's animated and talks, guess I'll have to learn to like it......
Of course the babydaddy didn't go without. My gift to him was tix to Bris-Vegas. Yeah I know I benefit from that as well but I figured a family holiday would be sweet and hopefully he can turn his phone off for a couple of days and pretend he has no work responsibilities!!! But I guess that is something I can't give.

See Ya Christmas 09

Well, that's Christmas again for another year. For all the preparation and anticipation it's all over so quickly.
All in all we had a wonderful day, my only complaint is the amount of travel we had to do, which was followed by driving down to the coast on boxing day.

We were all spoilt, feed and have filled our recycling bin with packaging. I do love a nicely presented present but SERIOUSLY how much packaging does one item need.

Now it's time to pack up the tree and start the prep for 2010.
I love, love, love decorating the house, but I also love how tidy the house looks after it's all packed up. And with Christmas now over it's time to work on my new year goals. Or at least define them to make them achievable.....

Well my blog title couldn't be better today. Sadie and the baby daddy have hit the shops, to buy me some pressies(I hope), but also to give me some time to get a few things done. My to do list basically consists of cleaning and sewing, but I have been sitting in front of the computer for the last forty minutes trying to work out how to get bloody Airport Express to work so I can use my printer........

I really do have something better to do!

Wild Thing. You make my heart sing

It seemed like a good idea at the time. Generally Sadie is asleep by 8.30.
I desperately wanted to see Where The Wild Things Are, so with the drive in session starting at 9.20 in theory we would head over to the drive ins give Miss Sadie her nightly drink in the car and she would drift off into a beautiful sleep, dreaming of running wild with um the Wild Things. Yeah sounds great in theory. I think she misheard me and thought I said lets go out and be Wild Things. The bottle was devoured and it was party time!
Ever tried confining a toddler in a car for more than 5 minutes? Actually she was pretty good and kept pointy at the screen oh-ing and ahh-ing and after monkeying around for the first half of the movie flaked in my arms for the last half. It was an experience

Oh and in case you are wondering I LOVED the movie. So not for kids and a bit on the depressing side but it was stunning.
And it's nice to remember once in a while that there is a Wild Thing in all of us.

End Of The Year

So the year is quickly coming to an end and I can tell you it has been a year of ups and downs, but I'm not in the mood to reflect upon it today. Today I am wondering.
Quite often I have heard my lil' sis say the kids are tired because it's the end of the year. I kind of get the concept, when you are 4, 6 or 10 the majority of your time is spent at school so by the time December arrives, you've had enough of learning and it's time to play and prepare for holidays. So the kids get time off to recharge there batteries and get ready for another year of learning. And I suppose it's the same for most full time workers that get a Christmas break.
But I wonder what is it about tearing the December page from the calender that changes things?
For me working part-time 10 whole hours a week and being mum for the other 158 hours I don't really see that wind down time at the end of the year and to be honest I am wondering how a lot of people find the time to get everything done.
I'm not a single mother but I might as well be, with the baby daddy currently working at least 6 days a week. I find that I have to manage to get everything done with a toddler by my side, or try to do things while keeping her in eye sight.
I feel like I have been trying to organise my house for at least six months but when I sit back and think about it I am chasing my tail and all the "projects" I had imagined I would make for Christmas presents, well maybe next year.
So this year I am going to make some resolutions, and I'll document them here. It will probably end up being a public TO DO list but hey if it's out of my head then maybe I can stop day dreaming about it.

Welcome, welcome welcome.
So this give this another whirl, I can't promise that I'll wrote all the time but I'm sure when I do, it will be captivating.
New blog, new name. To answer my own question. Of course I have something better to do.

Chasing after this little munchkin is priority number 1. Trying to fight her away from the keyboard is quickly becoming my second priority. Miss Sadie at 13 months old and is like a human cyclone, turn your back for one minute and the pile of clean clothes, papers or anything within arms reach is scattered everywhere.
It would be great to get inside her mind. Everything is so new and uncomplicated and she certainly keeps me on my toes. Speaking of which she is in need of my attention, or food fetching skills at the least.
Welcome to my life
